Solihull Moors have confirmed the departure of striker Oladapo Afolayan to Premier League side West Ham United.

Afolayan joins the Hammers for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with top-tier outfit.

The young forward joined the Moors last February from Midlands Premier Division side Loughborough University, where he is also studying for a degree in engineering. He had also previously played for Chelsea’s academy, as well as for MLS side Toronto in Canada.

The striker made an instant impression for the Moors and even scored on his Solihull debut in a 3-0 win over Sutton United.

Afolayan’s impressive performances continued and he has consistently caught the eye of admirers from the clubs further up the league pyramid, and was even rewarded with a call-up to the England C squad in November.

He was also invited last summer to be part of Jamie Vardy’s V9 Academy, which was designed to give non-league stars a chance of showcasing themselves in front of scouts from the Premier and Football Leagues.

Afolayan made a total of 50 appearances for the Moors in all competitions and scored 15 times, 11 of which he has scored in the league this season, making him Solihull Moors’ top scorer for this campaign so far.

‘Dapo’ has now left the Automated Technology Group Stadium and scored in his final game for the club, a 3-1 win away at Dagenham & Redbridge, and will now join West Ham United, where he will initially join up with the club’s Under-23 side.
