National League North side Leamington have completed the signing of defender James Bowen, confirming the full-back’s permanent departure from Solihull Moors.

Bowen joined the Moors last October from Hereford, having been signed by Richard Money, during his short spell as manager.

The 22-year-old was initially given a good run in the side, making 10 appearances for the Moors, but after Mark Yates was brought in as manager, replacing Money, Yates brought fellow left-back Jamie Reckord into the club, who ended up ousting Bowen from the regular starting eleven.

After a couple of months of struggling for game time under Yates, Bowen was eventually loaned back to Hereford in January, where he spent the remainder of last season.

Bowen now joins Leamington, who are gearing up for their second season back in the National League North, after escaping relegation last season, finishing in 19th place, just one position above the drop zone.
