Jack Byrne has confirmed that he has now departed Solihull Moors after two seasons with the club.
The midfielder took to his Twitter account this morning to announce his departure and had this to say in a short statement:
‘Sad to be leaving Solihull Moors, it’s been a great two seasons at the club. Proud to have been apart of a very successful period in the club’s history!
I’d like to thank all the fans for their support throughout. Also like to thank players past and present, made a lot of great friends.
Looking forward to the next challenge in my career.‘
It is believed that the 27-year-old was offered fresh terms by boss Liam McDonald, but it is now come to light that Byrne has made the decision to move on.
Byrne joined the Moors in the summer of 2015 from Kidderminster Harriers, having previously played for Solihull Borough as an 18-year-old in their final season prior to the 2007 merger to form Solihull Moors.
He proved to be key player, making 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring 5 goals, as the Moors completed a historic double, winning the National League North and the Birmingham Senior Cup in the 2015/16 season.
His experience in the top tier of non-league football also proved key last season, helping the club secure their National League status in their first ever season at that level, and also helping the club reach the second round of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
Byrne made a total of 80 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals in his two years at the Moors.
