Solihull Moors have confirmed the appointment of former goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan as the club’s new goalkeeping coach.

Vaughan spent just over a year at the Moors as a player between 2016 and 2017, originally joining from Worcester City before the start of the club’s first ever campaign in the National League.

The 36-year-old appeared 10 times in that campaign before being loaned out back to Worcester City for the remainder of the 2016/17 season.

Vaughan signed a new contract with the club last summer and made 13 appearances in the opening months of the season, one of which included an amazing goal, as the experienced stopper scored from his own area in the Moors’ early season win over Torquay United. The goal also helped Vaughan pick up the National League’s Player of the Month award for August of last year.

However, appearances came hard to come by over the next couple of months and Vaughan eventually departed for National League rivals Chester last November, before leaving the Blues to go back to one of his old clubs, Kidderminster Harriers, in March.

Vaughan had signed a new contract with Kidderminster ahead of the new season, but with Darren Acton having left his goalkeeping coach role with the Moors last month, Vaughan has now taken up the position, leaving the Harriers and joining up with new boss Tim Flowers, as part of his new look backroom staff.
