Solihull Moors have completed the loan signing of young Birmingham City midfielder Luke Maxwell.

The 20-year-old joins the Moors initially until the 5th of January 2019 and becomes the club’s third summer signing, after boss Tim Flowers completed moves for defender Alex Gudger and striker Danny Wright.

Despite his age, Maxwell has a solid amount of experience at National League level, having previously played for Kidderminster Harriers and Gateshead in the top tier of non-league football.

The midfielder started his career at Kidderminster, making his debut at the age of 17 during the 2014/15 season. He went onto make seven more appearances that campaign before fully breaking through into the Harriers’ first-team the following season.

After making 24 appearances in the first-half of the 2015/16 season, Championship side Birmingham City signed the youngster in January 2016 to a three-and-a-half year deal, before loaning him back to Kidderminster for the remainder of that campaign.

After making a further 15 appearances at the Aggborough Stadium, Maxwell returned to the Blues, where he has since been loaned out to League Two side Grimsby Town and the Moors’ National League rivals Gateshead.

Maxwell made 11 appearances for Gateshead in his loan spell during the first-half of last season.

The midfielder now joins Solihull Moors on loan and has been training with the club since the players returned for pre-season training last week.
