Moors confirm ground resolution

Solihull Moors have confirmed that issues between the club and the local authority regarding the club’s Automated Technology Group Stadium have now been resolved.

Last weekend’s league opener against Chester was postponed 24 hours before kick-off, due to certain safety concerns had by Solihull’s Safety Advisory Group, who control the club’s safety certificate for the stadium.

As a result of the resolution, Tuesday night’s game against Barrow will go ahead as planned.

The statement from the club read: ‘Solihull Moors can confirm that the club has now resolved the Solihull Safety Advisory Group’s outstanding concerns to allow fixtures to be staged at the Automated Technology Group Stadium.

‘The licensing authority had sought clarity over certain matchday procedures, notably a misunderstanding relating to emergency vehicle access, resulting in the late postponement of last Saturday’s Vanarama National League fixture against Chester.

‘The club has worked closely with relevant authorities over the past week to address the issue as a matter of urgency and has now been given the green light to host Barrow on Tuesday (15 August, 7.45pm kick-off).

‘The Board would like to take this opportunity to place on record its sincere regret at what has been an uncertain and frustrating start to the 2017/18 campaign.

‘Supporters should be under no doubt that we have the club’s best interests at heart as we strive to ensure The Moors continue to compete at step one of non-league football following a remarkable debut season at this level.

‘Despite significant investment in recent years, the club will continue to be run on a realistic budget to avoid jeopardising its future and important role in the Solihull community.

‘It is no secret that the Board has sought fresh investment to aid the club’s continued progression. Liam McDonald has assembled a young and exciting squad within budget constraints that would be expected of a part-time club competing in a largely full-time division.

‘Despite the uncertainty of recent weeks, we would ask all fans to not allow their support of that squad to waver as everybody connected with the club continues to pull in the same direction.

‘The Board is fully aware of the supporters’ desire for greater transparency and, where relevant, will aim to adopt such an approach moving forward.’
