Solihull sign Hylton

Solihull Moors have completed the signing of striker Jermaine Hylton from Swindon Town on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old was offered a new deal at Swindon, after their relegation to League Two last season, but decided to turn it down in favour of joining the Moors, where he reunites with Liam McDonald, who he played under for three years at Redditch United.

Hylton had been training with Solihull for the last few weeks and played in both of this week’s friendlies against Barwell and Highgate United.

McDonald is delighted to have the Birmingham-born striker on board for the new season and firmly believes he can be the best striker in non-league football.

‘This is a massive signing,’ the Moors boss told the club’s official website.

‘Jermaine is a quality goal scorer who needed a change after Swindon’s relegation to League 2 last season and despite considerable interest from Football and National League clubs, has bought into our vision here at Moors and wants to be part of it.

‘He has impressed in training and at Barwell this week.

‘He came to Redditch having played Sunday League with Continental Star and I believe he will be the best striker in non league football.

‘He is always a threat and defenders find it hard to read his game. He had a few games last season with Guiseley and knows what to expect in the National League.

‘He wants to eventually return to the Football League and the best way for him to do that is to be successful here.

‘He is a great addition to the squad and will score goals.’

Hylton also spoke to the club’s website about the move and is delighted to link up once again with Liam McDonald and a few other familiar faces from his Redditch United days.

‘Liam McDonald is a good manager and plays a style of football which suits me perfectly.

‘It is my hope to score many goals for both him and Moors.

‘I now want to score bags of goals and be part of a successful Solihull Moors team.’
