Solihull Moors have confirmed that midfielder Darren Carter is the new club captain.

Carter takes the armband after previous captain Liam Daly left the Moors for Kidderminster Harriers in June.

The 33-year-old former Birmingham City midfielder joined Solihull this summer after leaving Forest Green at the end of last season, and had captained his hometown-club for the majority of the pre-season campaign.

Speaking on his appointment as club captain, Carter shared his delight at being given the responsibility.

‘I am delighted to take on the responsibility of club captain,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘It will be a real privilege to lead a great set of lads into the new season.

‘Along with the gaffer’s positivity and the belief he has instilled into the team, I’m confident we will reach the targets we’ve set ourselves.’

Moors boss Liam McDonald also spoke to the club’s website on his decision to give Carter the armband, and says the experienced midfielder has shown real leadership since joining the club.

‘Darren is well respected within the group and has been a leader since coming to the club.

‘He’s excited about the season and was delighted to be given the responsibility of captaining the football club this season.’
