Moors Academy picked up their first point of the season on Saturday, drawing 2-2 with Redditch Borough in their Midlands Football League Division Two clash.

Having lost their opening two fixtures of the season over the last seven days, Moors Academy were looking to bounce back with a win. Redditch Borough would provide a tough test for the young Moors side, coming into the game top of the league having won their two games so far.

Despite going in the game with a number of injuries, the Academy dominated and took the lead in the first-half. Redditch Borough defender Garrath Hodgetts putting the ball in his own net to give the Moors Academy the lead, and also their first goal of the season. 1-0 was the score at half-time.

Redditch Borough came into the game a little more in the second period and found their equaliser, substitute Callum Hall scoring with a fine strike out of nowhere that caught Moors keeper Alex Hamer off guard.

Just three minutes later, Redditch took the lead. Garrath Hodgetts made up for his earlier own goal by scoring in the right net to give the Borough the advantage heading in the final exchanges of the game.

As the match neared its finale, Moors Academy pushed harder and harder for an equaliser, and with just three minutes remaining they were given a huge opportunity.

Referee James Claytor awarded a spot-kick to the Moors. Academy midfielder and captain Ryan Andrews stepped up to take it and cooly slotted home past Redditch Borough keeper Lee Garghan to give the Moors Academy the share of the spoils.

2-2 it finished, and a first point on the board for the Moors Academy, hopefully one of many during their Midlands Football League Division Two campaign.

Starting XI: Alex Hamer; Jerome Clarke, Josh Endall, Jamie Chisholm, Nathan Hansard, Dylon Bennett, Kyle Mullally, Ryan Andrews (c), Nathan Pickering (Jack Ward), Reon Cooper (James Bour), Mikkel Hirst (Ashanti Pryce).
