Solihull Moors have confirmed that Liam Daly has agreed terms on a new deal that will keep the defender at the club for the 2017/18 season.

The 29-year-old becomes the sixth confirmed player to be signed on for the new campaign, with Oladapo Afolayan, Simeon Maye, Kristian Green, Joel Kettle and George Carline all having previously signed new deals ahead of the Moors’ second season in the top tier of non-league football.

Daly was the club’s top appearance maker last season, featuring in 44 games over the course of the campaign. He was also voted as the Supporter’s Player of the Season at Solihull Moors’ End of Season Awards Evening.

Moors boss Liam McDonald is understandably delighted to have his captain sign on for next season and had this to say:

‘I always knew Liam would sign – we work well together and apart from his obvious ability on the pitch, he has been such a good captain,’ McDonald told the club’s official website.

‘I believe Liam is the right man to lead this club to even greater success.’

Daly also spoke to the club’s website about the new deal and spoke of his pride at being able to skipper his local club.

‘I am proud to be the Captain of my local club. My home is here and it means so much to me,’ said Daly

‘The gaffer has not put a foot wrong since he arrived at the club – he has brought players in from lower divisions and they have been up to the task of keeping us in this division.

‘I think I thrive in helping others and hope that I have played my part in helping the new lads settle in so well.

‘I am confident that the new signings will be just as good and I believe we can give our fans, with whom I have a close relationship, an exciting season.’
