THE NEWS FROM VITAL SOLIHULL MOORS:

Sammons named in NLP’s Team of the Day:
Solihull Moors’ Ashley Sammons was included in the Non-League Paper’s National League Team of the Day after last Saturday’s draw at home to Braintree Town.

‘The team spirit got us through’ – McDonald:
Solihull Moors boss Liam McDonald admitted that he was always confident his side could make the comeback against Braintree Town and believes self-belief and team spirit were key to overcoming the Moors’ poor start to the game.

Moors announce the launch of a Ladies Academy:
Solihull Moors announced the launch of a brand new initiative for aspiring female footballers in joint partnership with CTC Kingshurst Academy.

Moors looking to extend Udoh loan:
Solihull Moors are currently in talks with Crewe Alexandra over the possibility of extending the loan of striker Daniel Udoh.

Young duo join Highgate on loan:
Solihull Moors confirmed that Moors Academy duo Romario Martin and Rhys Mason have joined Midlands Football League Premier Division side Highgate United on loan until the end of the season.

McDonald: ‘Harry is my first choice’:
Solihull Moors manager Liam McDonald insisted that Harry White remains his first choice striker, despite rumours that the 22-year-old was close to a move away from the club.

Daly: ‘We can beat anybody in this league’:
Defender Liam Daly stated that he loving life at Solihull Moors currently and is delighted that the club are surprising all the early season critics, who had tipped the Moors to be relegated from the top tier of non-league football.

Moors Deliver Thumping On Humberside:
The Vital Match Report as Solihull Moors comfortably beat North Ferriby United 4-1 in the National League on Saturday.


OTHER MOORS NEWS:

Solihull Moors winger Pearson Mwanyongo played 70 minutes of Barwell’s 3-0 win over Corby Town on Saturday. The Canaries remain in 11th place in the Northern Premier Division, but are firmly in the hunt for a play-off place. A match report from the game can be found here.

Moors Academy youngsters Romario Martin and Rhys Mason both appeared for Highgate United in their comprehensive 6-1 away win over Stourport Swifts in the Midlands Football League Premier Division. Martin made his first start for the club and scored the Gate’s sixth goal to cap off a strong performance from the 17-year-old. Mason came on as a 55th minute substitute. Defender Nathaniel Kelly started two games this week for Sutton Coldfield Town. The 21-year-old started at centre-back for both the Royals’ 3-1 win against Skemersdale United and the 1-0 defeat against Warrington Town. Sutton Coldfield sit in 22nd place in the Northern Premier Division, five points adrift of safety.

Knowle FC managed to play their first fixture at the Automated Technology Group Stadium this past weekend, after Solihull Moors allowed the club to use their ground after Knowle’s clubhouse fell victim to Storm Doris. The Robins overcame Sutton United in their Midlands Football League Division Two fixture, winning by three goals to one.

No game for the Moors Academy side this weekend, but the Under-19s managed to hold Kidderminster Harriers to a 1-1 draw in the National League U19 Alliance fixture last Wednesday. Josh Parsons scored the goal for the Moors.


TWEETS OF THE WEEK:

There was a lot of buzz from the Solihull Moors’ players after Saturday’s win over North Ferriby United, with many congratulating Nortei Nortey after he scored his first goal for the club in the rout.

















But some people remain amused by his name…
