Marcus Bignot has confirmed he is currently in discussions with the Solihull Moors board about the possibility of signing a contract at Damson Park.

Bignot, who took over as the club’s manager in 2011, has worked throughout his time at the Moors without a contract, but after securing the club’s promotion to the National League for the first time in April, he now hopes that is enough to have earned himself his first deal.

‘I’ve never had a contract here. But they now know I’m loyal. I want to manage higher up one day, but I want to do it the right way.’ the Moors boss told BBC Sport.

Bignot hopes with the appointment of former Swindon Town chairman Jed McCrory to the Moors board and the club’s plans to change and improve their off field structure, that they can now be in a position to offer him the added job security that the former QPR defender seeks and clearly deserves.

He continued, ‘I must be the only manager in this league that’s not got a contract,’ he added. ‘It’s unsettling. The way the club is changing off the pitch I feel it’s only right I have some security.’

Bignot has confirmed he has already had discussions with the Moors board about the contract and those talks will continue this week, although no contract has been officially offered by the club as of yet.
