Solihull Moors midfielder George Carline was given his first taste of international experience on Sunday, earning a first cap for the England C team in their win over the Panjab national team.

Carline came on with five minutes left on the clock in the international, which was played at the Moors’ Automated Technology Group Stadium.

The match finished 2-1, with Ebbsfleet United’s Darren McQueen scoring the goals for England.

Despite his limited time on the pitch, Carline put in a strong performance in his cameo appearance, nearly assisting Kidderminster’s Joe Ironside twice with two excellent through balls, that Ironside should have done better with.

The Moors midfielder also played the full 90 minutes in England C’s defeat to Jersey last night.

Carline was started as a makeshift right-back, due to Dartford right-back Keaton Wood having to miss out through injury. But despite being played out of position for the game, the 24-year-old put in a strong performance in the full-back role.

England C, who were playing as an FA Representative XI, were quite unlucky to come out with a defeat in a game being played for the Jackson Trophy.

England took the lead in the second-half with a goal from Dagenham & Redbridge attacker Fejiri Okenabirhie, before Jersey managed to steal the victory away from England, scoring in the 91st minute to send the game to penalties.

Chester’s James Alabi missed what turned out to be a pivotal penalty for the FA XI, giving Jersey the win, 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Despite the result, we’re sure it was a fantastic experience for George, and well done to him on getting some international recognition, hopefully they’ll be plenty more to come!
