CTC Kingshurst Academy and Solihull Moors are delighted to announce that a partnership has been entered which will see the club’s football Academy moving to the college’s superb facilities in Cook’s Lane, Kingshurst

The teaching staff at CTC will provide academic tuition with Moors coaches looking after the football side of their players’ education

Solihull Moors Academy has just completed a very successful first year having started with 40 boys between 15 and 18 years of age. Several of the initial intake were players who have been released by local professional clubs and it gave them another chance at playing at the highest level.

Studies were split between Solihull College and Old Silhillians but Mark Fogarty, the club’s Director of Sport was aware that if Moors wanted to expand the Academy then it would be necessary to find a venue where everything could be accommodated on one site. He could not be happier with the deal struck with CTC Kingshurst Academy.

‘CTC have tremendous facilities with acres of grass for training and games and a new 3G artificial pitch for our use. The news of the partnership has already created massive interest and has enabled us to offer places to over 100 boys.

‘We have attracted players from far and wide; some have chosen to join us ahead of Football League football clubs whilst others have already had that experience. Our aim is to give them the best training and pastoral care possible.

‘Our success on and off the pitch in our first year is one of the reasons so many want to join us. The staff that we have in place at the Academy is really top class and cemented by the brilliant teachers and staff at CTC, we cannot fail but be successful in our target which is to make players the best that they can possibly be.’

CTC Kingshurst Academy is delighted as from September 2017 to be working with Solihull Moors as it expands and uprates its Football Academy. Students joining the scheme will study a variety of BTEC qualifications ranging from Extended Diplomas to Certificates, or the International Baccalaureate Diploma. These lessons will take place during the mornings leaving the afternoons free so that the high level coaching from Moors’ strong team of coaches can take place on the extensive and impressive sports facilities at the Academy.

Students will also be provided with individualised nutritional programmes and there will also be the opportunity for them to develop their fitness levels through the provision of free gym and swim passes. Everything is being geared towards the youngsters being highly successful both in the classroom and on the football pitch. The Academy is extremely proud of its Post 16 academic results that are always impressive. Working with such a successful and local football club will only enhance the opportunities available to the youngsters.

CTC`s Academy’s Principal, Damon Hewson is excited at the prospect of the partnership with Solihull Moors:

‘At CTC Kingshurst Academy, success is defined in its widest sense: in students achieving qualifications commensurate with their potential, in equipping them with the skills and motivation to be lifelong learners and in developing each individual into a confident, well-rounded adult.

‘Just like Solihull Moors, we are totally committed to the pursuit of the highest possible standards, to ensure that our students develop into conscientious individuals with the highest aspirations.

‘We have a very genuine desire to want to support student outcomes in all aspects of Academy life and to provide the best possible facilities and opportunities.

‘It is extremely gratifying to enhance our provision by working with such a rapidly developing and increasingly successful local football club which shares our desire to want the best for their young players.’

One of the academy players who needs no introduction to CTC is Josh Endall, who made his debut for Solihull Moors National League team in the home game against Eastleigh towards the end of last season whilst still studying in year 11 at CTC Kingshurst Academy. Josh will move on to the Club Academy in September.
