Moors Aim For FA Cup Success: Part II

Last Saturday perhaps summed up where Solihull Moors are at currently.

At times it was sparkling with Shepherd Murombedzi and Oladapo Afolayan often at the heart of it. We gave their forwards very few chances to test young Charlie Bannister and dominated much of the proceedings. Yet tactically we fell a little bit short and that little bit of luck you need to get you over the line sometimes just wouldn’t come our way.

Leigh Overton had an outstanding game in goal for the visitors, brilliantly denying Darren Carter while also making impressive saves from Murombedzi, Afolayan and Liam Daly.

With Akwasi Asante back in the fold and Chris Camwell looking a solid acquisition, Richard Money can be happy with his early business as he bids to turn the club’s form around. His attacking substitutions against Hartlepool United and Ossett Town featured Jordan Liburd and Joel Kettle coming on from the bench which tells you plenty about where improvements are needed.

A trip to West Yorkshire on a cold Tuesday night is something we could have done without ahead of Guiseley but with the possibility of welcoming Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup First Round Proper there is every reason for the players to earn victory tonight.

And for us fans, the idea of witnessing Adebayo Akinfenwa take on the beast that is Liam Daly is more reason to get behind the side tonight.

Above all else, winning breeds winning and Solihull Moors need a win.

Vital Quotes:

Richard Money talks positives after draw with Ossett Town:

“We`ll be in the draw and it gives me another 90 minutes with them to put some principles and philosophy in place before we go back into league action next weekend – let`s make the most of the replay that we can,” He continued.
“We`ve done enough to win the game but we haven`t. They`ve probably had two efforts, we conceded a poor goal and we can`t quite seem to keep a clean sheet.
“We`re going to stay positive and keep pushing forward. It`s very important that we go through and clearly we want to do that.”

Ossett Town Team News:

Richard Money could call upon Akwasi Asante after the striker joined on loan from Ossett Town. Jermaine Hylton and Ashley Sammons will hope to step up their fitness with game time.

Player to watch: Shepherd Murombedzi

Shepherd Murombedzi was Solihull Moors’ biggest threat on Saturday, constantly getting at his man and getting into the area. Deserved his goal and a similar display tonight could take The Moors into the First Round Proper.

Solihull Moors Team News:

Ossett will have to find a replacement for Corey Gregory who was sent off on Saturday.

Player to watch: Leigh Overton

After his performance on Saturday, Leigh Overton is absolutely the man to watch, pulling off four superb saves in the second half to deny Moors victory.
