Moors Academy have confirmed that they will introducing a new under-21s side next season.

The team will take the place of the current under-18s side that played in the Midland Football League Division Two and will comprise of Solihull Moors academy players aged between 18 and 21.

The team will play its home matches at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground in Sutton Coldfield, the home of Boldmere St Michaels, a ground in which the Solihull Moors first-team used for training for a large portion of last season.

Moors Academy will also enter a team in the Midland Football League Reserves League and will continue to use the Tally Ho complex in Edgbaston for these fixtures. The academy will also enter a team into the Floodlit League.

The remaining Moors Academy sides will compete in the various college leagues, using the facilities at both the CTC Kingshurst Academy and Solihull College, Blossomfield Campus.

Solihull Moors’ Sporting Director, Mark Fogarty, had this to say on the changes to the Moors Academy structure:

“This fantastic new partnership with Boldmere will allow our players to continue their development and be able to play the type of football that we believe in due to the superb facilities and surface.

“Ordinarily we lose our best young players at 18 but we now have the opportunity to watch them blossom over a further 3 years.

“The partnership with Boldmere will further cement the relationship between the 2 clubs and I’m sure both will prosper because of the relationship.”

Boldmere St. Michaels chairman Robert Mallaband also had this to say in regards to his club’s increasing partnership with Solihull Moors:

“Boldmere have gone through a transformation programme that started off the field with our new facilities and we have now expanded our feeder system with more than 30 teams next season.

“Boldmere share a similar vision to Moors and we feel the partnership will serve both clubs equally.

“We are privileged to open up our ground to a premier club and we look forward to seeing the youth develop through our joint initiative.”

A Solihull Moors XI will also be facing the Mikes in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday the 11th of July at 7.30pm, with the match taking place at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.
