With some of our team being away of the last few days, here’s a quick round-up of some of the news that may have been missed from the last week at Solihull Moors…

VAUGHAN PICKS UP PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD:
Solihull Moors goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan has been named as the National League’s Player of the Month for August.

Vaughan has become the first ever Moors player to receive the accolade at this level, and becomes the first Moors player to win a league’s Player of the Month award since Gaz Dean won the National League North award in November 2015.

The 36-year-old has been in strong form since ousting young keeper Connal Trueman from the Solihull XI in recent weeks and even scored the winner in Solihull Moors’ first win of the season, a 2-1 victory away at Torquay United, where Vaughan scored from a goal-kick.

Well done to Nathan on the award!

MOORS ANNOUNCE BARNWELL DEPARTURE:
Solihull Moors have announced the departure of forward Shomari Barnwell.

The striker joined the club in June, but was unable to take part fully in the Moors’ pre-season campaign due to travel issues from the 23-year-old’s London home.

Barnwell was subsequently loaned to Lewes to enable him to gain further match fitness, but with no sign of the commuting becoming easier for the striker, the club agreed to release him from his contract.

WESTBROOKE JOINS THE MOORS ON LOAN:
Solihull Moors have completed the loan signing of Brentford’s Zain Westbrooke.

The 20-year-old creative midfielder, who is captain of Brentford’s Development side, made his Moors debut in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat away at Aldershot Town.

FORMER MOORS BOSS GIVEN BARROW ROLE:
Barrow have announced that Marcus Bignot has been added to the management team at Holker Street.

The former Solihull Moors boss, who parted company with Grimsby at the end of last season, will assist caretaker manager Micky Moore.

Bignot – who has worked with Moore at the Moors and at Grimsby – has been drafted in as the club look to improve their Vanarama National League position.

EASTLEIGH ANNOUNCE MOORS FIXTURE TO BE FREE-FOR-ALL:
Eastleigh have announced that their Stoneham Lane gates will open free of charge for all fans for the visit of Solihull Moors on Tuesday the 24th of October.
