Solihull Moors have made their first summer signing by completing the capture of defender Alex Gudger from Brackley Town.

The 25-year-old also becomes Tim Flowers’ first signing as Moors boss, after being appointed as manager last week.

Gudger started his career with his local club, Nuneaton Town, but after making just two appearances for the Boro in the National League North, the defender soon departed for Rugby Town.

Gudger went onto make over 100 appearances for the Valley in his three seasons at Butlin Road and was also made club captain after being named as Player of the Season in his first season with the club.

His form at Rugby Town eventually saw him make a return to the National League North, signing with Worcester City in the summer of 2015.

Gudger would go onto make 40 appearances in his single season with Worcester City before departing for league high flyers Brackley Town in 2016.

The left-sided defender was a top performer for Brackley during his first season with the club, winning their sponsor’s Player of the Season award at the end of the 2016/17 campaign after appearing 51 times over the course of that season.

Gudger would continue his good form in the 2017/18 season for the Saints, appearing a further 46 times for the club, 10 of which came in the club’s FA Trophy winning campaign, which saw them defeat the Moors’ National League rivals, Bromley, on penalties at Wembley Stadium in May.

Gudger’s success with Brackley Town culminated in the defender being selected to take part in a training camp with the V9 Academy, which selects some of non-league’s top players, giving them an opportunity to showcase themselves in front of Premier League and Football League scouts.

Gudger now signs with Solihull Moors ahead of their third season in non-league’s top tier and will join up with the squad on Thursday as they begin pre-season training ready for the new campaign.
