Solihull Moors have appointed Tim Flowers as their new first-team manager.

The move sees the Moors promote Flowers to the top job at the club, with the 51-year-old having operated as assistant manager under Mark Yates, who departed to become manager of League Two Macclesfield Town yesterday.

Flowers will be assisted by Gary Whild, who was also part of the Moors’ backroom staff under Mark Yates.

This appointment sees Flowers take on his third permanent management job of his career, with him having had previous spells with Stafford Rangers and Kidderminster Harriers. He has also had a couple of spells as caretaker boss at Northampton Town.

The former Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper has also operated in various coaching roles at different clubs in his career as well, having spells at Leicester City, Manchester City, Coventry City, Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest, either as an assistant manager or a goalkeeping coach.

Flowers’ told the Solihull Moors official website of his delight at being given the manager’s job at the club and can’t wait to get started.

“TheĀ great escapeĀ ranks as one of my biggest achievement in Football and now to have the opportunity to build on everything we achieved last season is the icing on the cake.

“I would like to thank the Board for their confidence both in me and Gary Whild with whom I have an excellent working relationship.

“With the pre season games scheduled in less than three weeks there is much to do and I cannot wait to get started.”

“We have built something quite special at Moors and to be working with Tim Flowers as we move into our third season at the highest non league level is really exciting.” Assistant boss Gary Whild added.

“There are challenging times ahead and we both relish the opportunity of taking Moors successfully through them.”
