Solihull Moors have confirmed that goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan has signed a new deal with the club ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The 36-year-old made 10 appearances for the Moors last season after joining the club from Worcester City in the summer of 2016.

Vaughan had strong battle with former Kidderminster Harriers’ teammate Danny Lewis for the number one jersey last season before an injury, suffered in the club’s historic FA Cup win over Yeovil Town, disrupted his campaign.

Young Chelsea stopper Nathan Baxter then joined Solihull Moors on loan in January, with the decision then being made for Vaughan to be loaned out for the rest of the season, where he spent time with both Bromsgrove Sporting and former club Worcester City.

The door was always left open for veteran keeper to return to the Moors for the new season and with Danny Lewis’ departure being confirmed at the end of last month, boss Liam McDonald made the decision to offer Vaughan a new deal.

In an interview with the club’s official website, McDonald spoke of his delight at re-signing the former Worcester man to a new deal.

‘I am delighted that Nathan has decided to commit for another season.

‘He is one of the best keepers in the National League and I am pleased to have secured his services as part of the club’s goalkeeping strategy for the forthcoming season.’
